HistoryAt the time, when we were grandchildren of Lenin and red flags were raised for October celebrations, few enthusiasts created an activity that stimulated Lithuanian sense of patriotism. It was a Lithuanian folk dance that helped our nation to keep up its traditions and pass them to the younger generations. Our parents involved us into this activity and we are sincerely grateful for it. Most of us started in "Panevėžio Pynimėlis" dance ensemble. Dear to our hearts to this day, Ričardas and Rita Bakanauskai were the leaders of the ensemble. With their guidance, we danced throughout our childhood and adolescence and traveled to many foreign countries. We became great friends, united not only by the desire to spend lazy afternoons on the streets, but by the desire to dance. This passion for dance was not lost after graduating high school when most of us scattered through the cities of Lithuania. Each of us danced with different folk dance ensembles and had only chance to dance together while celebrating "Pynimėlis" anniversaries in our native town Panevėžys. During one of the gatherings, the idea to form our own ensemble and dance together again was born. The idea was realized, and here we present our young and new ensemble "Vilnius Pynimėlis". We had our first official practice on 19th of January, 2005. In five years, we presented four new programs to our friends, families and acquaintances in Chamber of Students in Vilnius, had many important events, concerts, participated in National Song and Dance Celebrations in 2007 and 2009.
